Thank you to all those members who attended the Renfrew Occasional Teacher Local’s Fall General Meeting on October 23rd at the Cobden Legion.
For the 2019-20 school year, the members at the Fall General Meeting on Oct 23rd have approved a fund to support the costs of workshops, ABQ/AQs and Professional Learning resources. Members can apply this year, for a qualifications course $100 reimbursement by submitting proof of enrollment and receipt of payment to our president.
Additionally, members may purchase an educational resource book and receive a $50 reimbursement once per year. In order to receive this funding, your chosen resource must be pre-approved (sorry no teacher-pay-teacher stuff). Just email the president, with your name, title of resource, and email address. After approval, and upon submission of a receipt, a cheque will be issued.
Funds are distributed on a “first come, first served” basis until the budgeted amount is depleted. This year a fund of $5000 was approved at the Fall GM. Keep on learnin’
Call-out times are in evenings from Sunday to Thursday from 5:45pm until 9:45pm, and in the mornings from Monday to Friday starting at 6:15am until the job start time (So the System will attempt to fill 1/2 day PM jobs throughout the morning).
Adjusting the daily times you wish to receive calls is done through adjusting within the dropdown tab Schedule -> General -> New -> The system will NOT call (and then set a day(s) and timeframe). This is only useful for weekly recurring commitments which prevent you from answering a SmartFind call. This can be adjusted or deleted as your commitments change. Otherwise use the Do Not Call function online or through the phone.
Priority school letters will be mailed out this week. Most eligible members received their first choice. If you wish to receive more calls consider adding more schools to your profile by contacting email@example.com Some larger schools still have space on their priority lists.
Online Workplace Violent Incident Reporting form
As you are probably aware, you are required to report violent incidents that cause or could cause physical injury, whether the force is actual, attempted or threatened. Despite mitigating circumstances (age, special needs, presence of an IEP) you still must report.
If you are the victim of a violent incident (even if it was an attempt or a threat) you must fill out this report. Classroom evacuations are also considered violent incidents and so should be reported using the new online step by step reporting form instructions accessed to RCDSB.
